The puppies were healthy and labor was normal. Star was a great mom and adored her puppies. She watched over them proudly and wouldn't leave the whelping box for anything. She carefully pushed them into a pile then wrapped herself around them so they'll be safe, moving carefully. At this age they are only about 1 pound.

Malamute coats start out very dark, with darker mask markings than the pups will have when grown. These puppies will be wolf-gray and white with sabling on the back of the head and parts of the undercoat though they look almost black and white right now. Exact shades of the colors will have to wait until later - as it turned out we had 4 light sables and 1 gray and white. All have white faces with very little, if any, eyeshadow.
